Apart from being crazy, this would be super fun to hang out in.

As much as I like to mock old people and their craziness, you have to remember that at the time the world could have literally ended at any minute. It wasn’t like our current obsession with the zombie apocalypse; there were tens of thousands of nuclear warheads pointed at them, and since the after-effects of fallout were not as well understood, these shelters really did seem like a good idea.
